I'm a brand new business with no trading history. Can I still apply?
Yes — Rent-Try-Buy is specifically designed for new businesses without a trading history. SilverChef has supported businesses from day one of opening. Approval is subject to credit assessment, but you don't need years of financials to get started.
How fast is approval?
For applications under $65,000, SilverChef's standard turnaround is around 5 minutes. Larger amounts may require additional documentation (financials, bank statements) and take longer. Approval is subject to credit assessment in all cases.
What does the security bond cover?
The security bond is equivalent to 6 weeks' rent and is paid upfront. It's refundable at the end of your agreement, minus any outstanding amounts (like missed payments). It's not a fee — it's held as security.
Are the rental payments really 100% tax deductible?
Rental payments are typically treated as an operating expense and may be fully tax deductible — but tax outcomes depend on your specific circumstances. Always confirm with your accountant before treating it as a deduction. The asterisk on this page links to that disclaimer.
Can I add more equipment partway through my term?
Yes. You can add additional equipment to your existing Rent-Try-Buy at any time, or upgrade an existing piece for something larger or newer. We help you plan that — call us when you're considering it and we'll work out the details with SilverChef.
What if I want to sell my business while I'm still in the rental term?
The Rent-Try-Buy agreement can be assigned to the new business owner if they meet SilverChef's standard credit-assessment criteria. They'd take over the agreement with the same options you had — buy, upgrade, return, or continue. Worth flagging this with us early in any sale conversation.
