Drink Dispensers

Compare commercial drink dispensers for cafes, bars, restaurants and function venues. The range covers bowl-style juice and cold drink dispensers from Benchstar and Polar, Taylor frozen drink machines, and ice and water dispensers from Blizzard Icemakers, Hoshizaki and Scotsman.

Start with what you pour: a chilled juice, a frozen drink or ice and water each need a different machine. Pair your choice with a commercial ice machine for bulk ice, plan the hot menu with commercial coffee machines, and see our commercial cafe equipment page for the whole counter.

Choosing a commercial drink dispenser

The right machine comes down to the drink, the volume in your busiest hour and the services behind the counter. Check these points before you compare models.

  • Drink type first: Chilled juice and cold drinks, frozen drinks and ice-and-water dispensers are different machines. Frozen drinks also need the right sugar content to freeze properly, so follow the manufacturer's mix guidance.
  • Bowl or bin capacity: Bowl dispensers are listed by litres (from 3.8L barrels to 12L bowls in this range) and ice dispensers by kilograms. Check whether a kg figure is daily ice production or bin storage, and size to your busiest hour rather than your average.
  • Ice type: Nugget ice is soft and chewable and suits iced coffee and soft drinks; the Blizzard and Hoshizaki dispensers here make nugget ice. Scotsman's Crushman crushes ice rather than making it.
  • Water, drain, gas and power: Ice-and-water dispensers need a potable water supply and a drain, so use WaterMark-certified fittings and a licensed plumber. Frozen carbonated machines such as the Taylor C300 also need CO2 and syrup supply. Check each data plate for electrical supply.
  • Airflow and bench space: Air-cooled machines need clear space around the vents, and hot enclosed corners reduce performance. Leave room beside the machine to lift lids and remove bowls for cleaning.
  • Cleaning and food safety: Bowls, taps and drip trays need regular cleaning and sanitising to the manufacturer's instructions. Ask for the cleaning routine and parts list before you buy.

Drink Dispensers FAQs

What is the difference between a drink dispenser and a commercial ice machine?

A drink dispenser serves a beverage, or ice and water, at the point of service, while a commercial ice machine is built to make bulk ice for bins, bars and displays. Some ice-and-water dispensers make their own ice, so check each model's production figure.

How much drink dispenser capacity do I need?

Match capacity to your busiest hour: estimate peak serves, multiply by cup size, and allow a spare bowl or flavour. Models in this range run from 3.8L barrels to 12L bowls and multi-bowl units, so you can scale up with demand.

Do commercial drink and ice dispensers need plumbing?

Ice-and-water dispensers need a potable water connection and a drain, while many bowl dispensers are filled by hand and need only power. Check each model's requirements, use WaterMark-certified fittings and have a licensed plumber connect any plumbed unit.

What is nugget ice and when is it a good choice?

Nugget ice is soft, chewable ice made in small pieces, and it suits iced coffee, soft drinks and smoothies because it cools quickly. The Blizzard Icemakers and Hoshizaki dispensers in this range make nugget ice and dispense water.

How often should a commercial drink dispenser be cleaned?

Follow the manufacturer's cleaning schedule, because it varies by model and by what you serve. Juice and dairy-based mixes need bowls, taps and drip trays cleaned more often than plain chilled water or ice. Ask for the cleaning instructions before you buy.
